Symptom
The receiving
The machine is powered off. The machine does not receive a fax while
operation is
incorrect.
No paper is set.
Paper is jammed.

The receiving mode is set to
manual.
The sending mode is
manual.
The document is not
correctly loaded on the
sender's machine.

The drum cartridge is

low.
Cause
powered off. Turn the machine's power
switch on.
Set paper on the machine to receive faxes.
Follow the instructions displayed on the
control panel to remove the jammed paper.
Refer to "Paper Jams" (P.427).
The machine does not receive a fax in the
system administration mode. Exit the
system administration mode.
When a password has been set, the
machine accepts only fax data or polling
with the password in F code
communication.
Receive the fax manually, or set the
receiving mode to Auto.
Refer to "Fax Receiving Mode" (P.86).
To use FAX Information Service, set the
receiving mode to manual on the on-hook
screen to enter an information code, and
press the <Start> button.
Check it to the sender.

Copy a document. If the image quality is
poor, replace the drum cartridge with a
new one.
Refer to "Replacing the Drum Cartridge"
(P.48).
