COOLING SYSTEM
WATER PUMP
MECHANICAL SEAL INSPECTION
Inspect the telltale hole for signs of coolant leakage.
If there is leakage, the water pump mechanical seal
is defective and the water pump should be replaced.

REMOVAL
Drain the coolant from the system (page 7-7).
Loosen the water hose band screw and disconnect
the water hose.
Remove the bolts, sealing washer and water pump
cover.
Disconnect the water hose.
Remove the O-rings and water pump.
INSTALLATION
Coat a new O-ring witb engine oil and install it onto
the stepped section of the water pump.
Install the water pump while aligning its groove
with the projection of the oil pump shaft.
