CHECKING THE CARBURETOR

1. Check:
• carburetor body
• float chamber
Cracks/damage → Replace.
• fuel passage
Contamination → Clean as indicated.
• fuel chamber body
Contamination → Clean.
a. Wash the carburetor in a petroleum based
solvent. Do not use any caustic carburetor
cleaning solution.
b. Blow out all of the passages and jets with
compressed air.
2. Check:
• float
• float tang
Damage → Replace.
3. Check:
• valve seat
• needle valve
Contamination → Clean.
Wear/damage → Replace as a set.
NOTE: NOTE:
Always replace the valve seat, needle valve
and O-ring as a set.
4. Check:
• piston valve
Scratches/wear/damage → Replace.
• piston valve diaphragm
Cracks/tears → Replace.
