Wireless LAN

8.8.1
Configuration
8.8.1.1
Introduction
To access the Wireless LAN interface configuration, enter the command NETWORK following by the identifier of the
LAN Wireless interface you wish to configure.
Config>network wlan1/0
-- Wireless LAN Interface. Configuration --
Wlan1/0 WLAN config>
The Wireless LAN interface configuration menu is made up of two different parts:
All the parameters common to all the BSSs are in the root menu. This menu includes the interface physical
parameters (channel to be used, operating mode, fragmentation threshold, antenna to be used, etc), as well
as parameters which, due to hardware restrictions, cannot be differentiated by BSS (in some devices, the
keys to be used if you are using WEP encryption, access lists for MAC addresses or QoS parameters). This
menu is only available in the base WLAN interface.
On configuring a network identifier (SSID), you access a particular configuration menu for the BSS where
you can configure specific parameters of the BSS. Within a BSS configuration menu you specifically
configure the parameters for the security to be used in the BSS: type of authentication, encryption, etc. This
menu is available in the base WLAN interface and in the WLAN subinterfaces.
8.8.1.2
Configuring Security
In some devices, the MAC access control lists and the WEP keys are common to all BSSs. Although the WEP keys
are common to all BSSs, the default key index to use can be configured for BSS.
8.8.1.2.1
MAC access control lists
The following MAC access control list parameters can be configured:
Type of access control
o
If you wish to configure the access list so that the stations whose MAC addresses do not appear in
the list can associate to the wireless network, use the access-control enable command.
o
Contrariwise, if you wish to configure the access control so that stations whose MAC addresses do
not appear in the list cannot associate to the wireless network, use the access-control strict
command.
o
To disable access control by MAC address, use the access-control disable command.
Access control rules. The following is possible for each MAC address:
o
Permit its association with the access point.
o
Negate its association with the access point.
o
Establish a private WEP key.
Example:
You want to configure access control through MAC addresses so that access is permitted to MAC address 00-11-95-
BB-20-A4. Additionally you want this address to use the private key configured in index 130:
access-control enable
access-control mac-address 00-11-95-bb-20-a4 allow
access-control mac-address 00-11-95-bb-20-a4 keymap 130
8.8.1.2.2
WEP Keys
You can configure WEP keys with the following lengths:
40 bits
