CLI Access

The VioNet Router provides user access for configuration and monitoring functions through a local or remote
terminal.
6.1

Local Terminal

A local terminal is directly connected to the VioNet Router through a serial cable.
6.2

Remote Terminal

The remote connections provide the same functionality as the local ones except a local terminal must be
used for the initial configuration.
The remote terminals are connected to the VioNet Router via TELNET, as soon as the IP protocol has
been enabled.
Through the local or remote terminal the VioNet Router can be accessed to execute the same
configuration, monitor viewing operations as well as primary management of the router.
6.2.1
Remote Terminal Processes
P1 ("GESTON"): This is the console management process. This is the starting point to boot a console
session and simplify access to other processes.
P2 ("VISEVEN"): This is the process that allows viewing of the events which are produced in the
system, from the established connections to the errors in them. These events have to be previously
programmed in process 4 (CONFIG) or in process 3 (MONITOR) through the Events Logging System.
P3 (MONITOR): Permits monitoring of the system state, as well as the statistics that the device
accumulates.
P4 (CONFIG): This process allows edits to the configuration parameters. From this process the user
can generate a full configuration for the device without altering its operations. To active this
configuration, save the file system and rebooth the device.
P5 (RUNNING-CONFIG): This process is used to effect changes in a device's active configuration.
Configuration changes executed from this process take immediate effect. However if the file system
isn't saved, changed will be lost when the device is rebooted.
