Return MODE and TC switches to the OFF position.
Switching the TC switch OFF at any time simulates the word fail condition on the
reed interface of the OTU, thus causing the traffic controller to revert to local
operation independent of the test unit. Transmission Confirm does NOT indicate
that the controller is under Computer control.
Notes: When changing the data switch settings during a test, operate the
switch(es) for the new pattern before restoring the switches not required.
If all switches are returned to '0' the Controller reverts to the free-running
mode and will not respond immediately to any new instruction.
5.3.2.2 Using the OTS to Check the Wiring of OTU Inputs/Outputs
With the equipment set up as described above, the wiring of OTU Inputs/outputs to
the controller via the Outstation Input/Output cable 667/1/22693/000 can be
checked if a handset can be attached to the controller:
Checking OTU Output wiring:
Attach a handset to the controller and enter controller handset commands that
display the status of the 16 controller inputs. Set different output bit patterns on the
Outstation Test Set using the data switches. Ensure that the controller inputs
displayed on the handset terminal are in the correct position and are the correct
value.
Checking OTU Input wiring:
Attach a handset to the controller and enter controller handset commands to set
the status of the 16 controller outputs. Set different output bit patterns on the
controller handset terminal. Ensure that the OTU inputs displayed on the OTS
LEDs are in the correct position and are the correct value.

5.3.3 Controller Mode (Simulating Traffic Control Equipment)

5.3.3.1 Operation
Note. Using the OTS in controller mode will affect transmission since the OTU
inputs are set by the OTS switches, and these values will be sent to the
Instation.
Connect the two D-type plugs on the test cable 667/1/22658/000 or /001
(depending on whether inputs 1 to 16 or 17 to 32 of the OTU, wish to be
controlled) to the D-type sockets on the test unit marked 'connect to OTU only'.
Remove the 34 way and 40 way berg sockets from the OTU plugs and replace
with the berg sockets of the test cable.
Check LED operation using the LAMP TEST switch. Set the word selector to 2
WORDS.
