Option Installation

Device Preparation

Before installing a storage device in the system, follow any preinstallation instructions that
come with the device. For example, the following devices typically need the preparation
detailed below:

Diskette drive
documentation that comes with the drive.

IDE device
system:
Check the jumper settings on the device before you install it. See the
documentation that comes with the device for jumper setting information.
In the BIOS Main Menu, an IDE device such as an IDE hard disk drive or
IDE CD-ROM reader must be set correctly as the first (master) or second
(slave) device on the IDE channel.
In systems with an IDE hard disk drive, the drive is typically set as the master
device on the primary IDE channel. A CD-ROM reader is typically set as the
master device on the secondary IDE channel.

configuration combinations.
