IDE Signal Cables
The system comes with a two-connector IDE interface cable attached to the primary IDE
connector on the riser board and a three-connector IDE interface cable attached to the
secondary IDE connector on the riser board. In systems with an IDE hard disk drive, the
drive is connected to the primary IDE connector on the riser board. If the system has a
CD-ROM reader, it is connected to the secondary IDE connector on the riser board. Each
PCI/IDE channel on the riser board supports two IDE devices.
Figure 3-21 shows a typical three-connector IDE cable. If your IDE cable is not keyed with
a connector tab, align the colored edge of the cable with the pin 1 side of the drive
connector and riser board IDE port connector.
