Burner Cap Placement
The STAR® burner caps must be properly placed on the
STAR® burner bases for the cooktop to function properly. If
the STAR® burner cap is not properly placed, one or more
of the following problems may occur.
•
Burner flames are too high.
•
Flames shoot out of burners.
•
Burners do not ignite.
•
Burner flames light unevenly.
•
Burner emits gas odor
WARNING:
To prevent flare-ups and avoid the creation of
harmful by-products, do not use the cooktop
without all STAR® burner caps and all burner
grates properly positioned.
WARNING:
To prevent burns, DO NOT touch STAR®
burner caps or grates while hot. Turn the
cooktop off and allow the burners to cool.
Checking Burner Cap Placement
•
Check each STAR® burner to make sure there is no
gap between the STAR® burner cap and STAR®
burner base. See Figures 5 and 6: Correct and
Incorrect STAR® Burner Cap Placement to see
examples of correct and incorrect placements of the
STAR® burner cap.
•
You may gently try to move the STAR® burner caps
from side to side to check if the caps are properly
placed on the STAR® burner bases. When properly
placed, each STAR® burner cap will rest flat on top of
its STAR® burner base, and completely cover the star-
shape of the STAR® burner base when viewed from
the top as shown below.
