2 - Abend with a dump on the hard disk:
It is assumed that:
• You have an alternate NCP (NCP2) on the remote controller hard disk.
• AUTO DUMP/LOAD=YES and ACTIVE LOAD MODULE=NCP1 are displayed
on the MOSS DII screen and that NCP2 has been loaded from the host onto
the remote hard disk using a VTAM* MODIFY LOAD command.
If NCP1 fails a second time before a previous dump is cleared
from the hard disk:
· D
The controller does not overlay the dump on the disk
but, instead, loads the alternate NCP2. Thus, if you were
performing the RLA procedure, you do not have to reload
the remote CCU with NCP1 using a diskette, or from the
host through an SDLC link.
· D
The alternate NCP2 fails during automatic activation
(because it is a different NCP from NCP1 previously active
under VTAM*). You must
r~activate
the alternate NCP2
using the correct load module and PU names.
A message is sent to the VTAM* console and two cases
may happen. See the following explanations.
The message sent to the host (
fJ)
is:

A message is sent to the
host.
15T5481 SOFT INOP FAILED - Linkstation subarea1, (name1) subarea2, (name2)
where (name1) is NCP2.
Two cases must be considered:
1. The VTAM* operator sees the message on the console.
In this case, he must:
a. Deactivate NCP1.
b. Activate NCP2.
2. The VTAM* operator does not see the message on the console and activates
NCP1.
In this case the following message is sent from the remote controller to the
VT AM* console:
Found loaded with NCP1, reply YES to reload or NO to cancel activation.
To this question, the VT AM* operator must answer NO.
Then, he must activate NCP2 to allow load module and dump management.
