INDeX 9.1
For new CPU cassettes, a database reset is recommended to ensure that the
database is clear of any transit or test settings.
Note: This process should only be performed via a serial connection as it resets
the CPU's IP network settings.
To reset a database to default values :
1. Remove any device cassettes from the INDeX.
2. From the Administration menu select Database Management.
3. Select Erase and restart to erase the database and restart the INDeX.
4. The INDeX will restart with a defaulted database. Note that the INDeX's serial
ports will have reset to 9600 baud and its usernames table has also been
cleared.
5. Log on again using the INDeX's default username and password. It will then
requests that you enter a new password for the default username.
6. From the Administration menu, select System and then Installation.
7. Set the Next station number, Next trunk number and Next group number
options to the desired values.
8. Select Clear device database. This removes any device settings and uses the
values set above as the base numbers for new devices added to the system.
9. Begin inserting cassettes into the INDeX.
After programming it is important to log off correctly. Simply disconnecting may allow
another person to use the INDeX under the scope of your programming username
and password.
To log off the INDeX and exit Kermit :
1. We strongly recommend that you download a copy of the INDeX database
before logging off, see page 14.
1. At the INDeX prompt, type ex in lower case and then press ↵.
2. For Kermit use the following sequence :
a. Press Ctrl and ] at the same time.
b. Press C to return to Kermit.
c. Type exit and press ↵ ↵ ↵ ↵ to close Kermit.
System shutdown is similar to cassette shutdown, it off-lines all cassettes when not
busy.
To shutdown the system :
1. If you have recently performed any system programming, do a database
backup before shutting down the system (see page 104).
2. Log on (see page 12) and from the Administration menu, select Linecard
information.
3. Select System shutdown.
4. If any devices are still involved in calls, the cassette's green LED flashes slowly.
When all calls have finished, the LED goes off. All devices on the cassette are
now off-line and you can remove power.
