Communication Parameters
If you have connected your computer to the STU 111/SECTEL,
your computer will be able to operate in both secure synchronous
and secure asynchronous modes.
To set your computer to secure synchronous communication
mode, use the following procedure:
CD
Load your computer's telecommunication software.
@
Access the portion of the program that allows you to set the
communication protocols.
@
Set your computer communication protocols to
synchronous.
@
Set the data rate to 2400 bits per second (bps).
To set your computer to secure asynchronous mode, use the
procedure below:
CD
Load your computer's telecommunication software.
@
Access the portion of the program that allows you to set the
communication protocols.
@
Set your computer communication protocols to
asynchronous.
@
Choose the comm port that your computer will use when
transmitting data (i.e., comm port 1, comm port 2, etc.)
@
Set the data rate to either 300, 1200, or 2400 bits per second
(bps).
@
Set the data bits (size of each character) to 8.
0
Set the stop bits (an additional bit sent at the end of each
character transmitted) to 1.

Set the parity check (form of error checking) to none.
NOTE
These parameters
are
used to interface your computer to your
STU 111/SECTEL. The computer receiving your transmitted data may require
additional settings. Refer to your computer telecommunication software
manual for further information.
The STU 111/SECTEL data interface can be connected directly to
any RS-449 interface, and indirectly to any RS-232C via an RS-232
to RS-449 adapter.
