Chapter 5
Voice Communication
This chapter shows how to place a clear mode call, receive a clear
_mode call, convert a clear mode call to secure mode, and receive
·---..__
auto secure calls. It also shows how to read and erase a
compromised information message (CIM) from the Key
Management Center (KMC).
A voice call in the clear mode is made in the same manner as with
an ordinary telephone. All features currently available with your
present PBX equipment that are accessible by a standard
telephone (call forwarding, conference calling, etc.) are available
and function the same way on the STU 111/SECTEL.

Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.

Dial the phone number using either the number keys, redial
key, or a memory dial key. Include any special access
numbers you would ordinarily use to interface with your
current PBX equipment.

you have misdialed, press

or hold down the switch
hook long enough to establish a new dial tone, and redial the
number.
NOTE
The number dialed will show on the message display. Use the

SCROLL

key to
review the first 16 digits of a dialing sequence that is greater than 16 digits.
NOTE
If you received a busy signal, you may redial later by pressing the
I
REDIAL
I
key
Up to 32 keystrokes entered during the last dialing sequence will be redialed
and displayed. If your local PBX equipment requires a short pause after dialing
s ecial access numbers to reach an outside phone line, you must include the
PAUSE
key in your original dialing sequence to use the redial feature. To
include the access code and pause in a dialing sequence. dial your access
number, press

and continue dialing the rest of the number.
