Roll core
The two encoders in the roll unit are part of the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) system used to control
machine operation.
• Encoder sensor 1 (3): Counts rotations of the roll paper feed motor. This pulse count is used to
measure the operation time of the roll paper feed motor.
• Encoder sensor 2 (4): Counts the rotations of the roll core which vary depending on how much
paper remains on the roll. (The number of rotations increases as the diameter of the paper roll
decreases) . This pulse count is used in a calculation to determine how much paper remains on the
roll.
