8.4 Logging In to a Server Over a Network Port by
Using PuTTY
Scenarios
Remotely log in to the server over a local area network (LAN) using PuTTy to
configure and maintain the server.
Prerequisites
Conditions
The PC and the server management network port have been connected by using a
network cable.
Data
You have obtained the following data:
Software Tools
PuTTY.exe: This tool is third-party software. You need to prepare it by yourself.
Procedure
Step 1 Set an IP address and a subnet mask or add route information for the PC so that
the PC can properly communicate with the server.
You can run the Ping
communication between the PC and the server.
Step 2 Double-click PuTTY.exe.
The PuTTY Configuration window is displayed, as shown in

You have obtained the IP address of the server to be connected.
You have obtained the user name and password for logging in to the server to
be connected.
