14. Patient cassette
The P C is a removable and easy-to-clean
ATIENT ASSETTE
unit. The five mushroom valves and the three uni-
directional valves in the patient cassette control the
gas flow in the patient unit.
The gas flow is controlled due to:
• Selected breathing system.
• Selected ventilation mode.
• Breath cycle phase.
The expiratory gas flow is measured by the

XPIRATORY LOW RANSDUCER
The APL V is used to limit the airway pressure
ALVE
during manual ventilation.
The P C sub-units are:

• A removable valve assembly plate with five
mushroom valves as indicated in the illustration.
The mushroom valves MV1–5 controls the gas flow
in the P U . The mushroom valves are

controlled by the five solenoid valves EMV1 – 5 on
the S P P

– MV1 controls the gas flow from and to the

ANUAL REATHING AG
– MV2 controls the expiratory flow which is
evacuated without being used for rebreathing.
– MV3 controls the gas flow to and from the

REATHING ELLOWS
– MV4 controls the rebreathing gas flow towards
the patient.
– MV5 controls the fresh gas delivered to the
M B B
ANUAL REATHING AG
There are also connections for the CO
the valve assembly plate. The absorber
connections (IN and OUT) are equipped with
springloaded cut-off valves that will automatically
close the connections when the CO
lowered.
The valve assembly plate must be replaced during
the "Twelve months maintenance".
