S-Register Descriptions

The descriptions for each S-register follow. In most bit-mapped S-registers, the
default bit value is 0 (which is the normal situation) and only the non-default situa-
tion is described. Some reserved bits are for factory use and the user should not
change them.

Sets the number of rings on which the
modem will answer automatically. S0=0
disables auto-answer. The maximum
and minimum numbers of rings are
country specific.

Counts the incoming rings and stores the
value to this register. Users can read this
value, but should not change it.

S2 contains the ASCII decimal value for
the Escape Sequence character. The
default character is the plus character
(+). A value of 128-255 disables the
escape code.

Contains the ASCII decimal value of the
Carriage Return character.

Contains the ASCII decimal value of the
Line Feed character.

Holds the ASCII decimal value of the
Backspace character. A value of 128-
255 disables the Backspace key's delete
function.

Sets the number of seconds the modem
will wait before dialing if X0 or X1 is
selected. If X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 or X7 is
selected, the modem will dial as soon as
it detects a dial tone. This S-register also
sets the time-out interval for the W dial
modifier to wait for the dial tone. (See
also S41b4 and ATD command)
