Loop-through of the supply voltage and PROFIBUS

Each RF166C communication module has two M12 connectors for the supply voltage and
PROFIBUS. Supply takes place via the 1st connection, the supply voltage and PROFIBUS
can be forwarded to another device via the 2nd connection.

Notes for wiring
● If you are wiring your structure, then you must take into account the impact of cable
length on supply voltage to the RF166C.
● The maximum supply current of the communication module is 16 A at 1L+ and 2L+ for a
maximum ambient temperature of 40 °C. At ambient temperatures of 40 °C to 55 °C, the
maximum supply current is 12 A. These values must not be exceeded. Take note of the
derating factor when operating at elevations above 2000 m (Page 24).
● Adhere to the current carrying capacity of the connected cables, which depends on the
conductor material, the conductor cross-section and the ambient temperature.

NOTICE
Damage to the device
Make sure to use a conductor cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
If you do not observe the maximum permissible supply current and the cable cross-
section required, this may result in the cable isolation and contacts overheating and in
the device being damaged.
