Module installation and connection
Warning:
Risk of eye injury by laser
Fiber optic equipment can emit laser or infrared light that can injure your eyes. Never look
into an optical fiber or connector port. Always assume that fiber optic cables are connected
to a light source.
Electrostatic alert:
Risk of equipment damage
Electrostatic discharge can damage hardware. Follow ESD procedures to protect your
equipment from damage.
Caution:
Risk of electromagnetic interference
Do not operate the Ethernet Routing Switch 8800/8600 with an empty module slot. If you
need to replace a failed module and you do not have a replacement module, leave the failed
module installed or install a filler panel.
Operating the switch with an empty module slot can cause electromagnetic interference to
other equipment in the area. Improper equipment cooling can also result.
Procedure steps
1. Disconnect any cables attached to the ports on the module.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws that secure the module
