What to do next
NOTICE for Gateway Attached Storage Systems
If you replace a fibre channel adapter within a storage node, the WWPNs change.
For 2851-DR1/DE1 attached storage the WWPN updates are automatic. If the
attached storage unit is a gateway configuration (consisting of IBM XIV Storage
System, V7000, or SAN Volume Controller), the WWPN update is not automatic.
You may need to update the zoning if the storage is attached through a fibre
channel switch , or update the WWPN in the fibre channel configuration on the
storage unit if it is directly attached to the file module (there is no fibre switch).
The configuration updates should follow standard procedures for the specific
storage unit used.
On the external storage "Host connectivity" will be use to add the new WWPN
from the new card.
Gateway Attached Storage via Fibre Switches
If the switches are port zoned, no adjustment is necessary for the switches. If the
switches are WWPN zoned, the WWPN for the file modules will have to be
updated on the attached disk configuration, the switch zoning, and any alias
configurations.
Gateway Attached Storage via Direct Connections
The configuration on the storage unit (IBM XIV Storage System, V7000, SAN
Volume Controller) needs to be refreshed or updated to use the new WWPNs for
the adapter(s) that were replaced.
