1. To help you work safely with Storwize V7000 Unified file module, read the
safety information in "Safety" on page xi, "Safety statements" on page xiii,
and "Installation guidelines" on page 58.
2. Install the adapter in the expansion slot.
3. Reconnect any internal cables that you disconnected.
Attention:
v When you route cables, do not block any connectors or the ventilated space
around any of the fans.
v Make sure that cables are not routed on top of components under the PCI
riser-card assemblies.
v Make sure that cables are not pinched by server components.
4. Align the PCI riser-card assembly with the selected PCI connector on the
system board.
v PCI-riser connector 1: Carefully fit the two alignment slots on the side of
the assembly onto the two alignment brackets on the side of the chassis;
align the rear of the assembly with the guides on the rear of the server.
v PCI-riser connector 2: Carefully align the bottom edge (the contact edge) of
the riser-card assembly with the riser-card connector on the system board;
align the rear of the assembly with the guides on the rear of the server.
5. Perform any configuration tasks that are required for the adapter.
6. Install the cover, as described in "Installing the cover" on page 88.
7. Slide the file module into the rack.
8. Reconnect the external cables; then, reconnect the power cords and turn on
the peripheral devices and the file module.
Note: You must wait approximately 2.5 minutes after you connect the power
cord of the file module to an electrical outlet before the power-control button
becomes active.
9. For Gateway attached storage systems, review the information in the NOTICE
for Gateway Attached Storage Systems section below before continuing with
the next step.

a. Go to the Linux desktop of the KVM, and click Applications > RAS
Menus.
b. Select Storage Menus > Run Disk Fibre Path Reset (for gateway attached
storage only).
This will restore the fibre paths on the associated file modules.
