Preparing the 8335-GTB system for operation after you remove and
replace internal parts
To prepare the IBM Power System S822LC (8335-GTB) system for operation after you remove and replace
internal parts, complete the steps in this procedure.
Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
2. Replace the service access cover. For instructions, see "Installing the service access cover on an
8335-GTB system" on page 203.
3. Place the system into the operating position. For instructions, see "Placing an 8335-GTB system into
the operating position" on page 207.

Attention: For a water cooled system, before powering on the system, ensure that cooling water is
circulating through the system.
4. Install both of the power supplies into the system. For instructions, see "Replacing a power supply
in the 8335-GTB" on page 210.
5. Reconnect the power cords to the system. For instructions, see "Connecting the power cords to an
8335-GTB system" on page 213.
6. If applicable, close the rack door at the rear of the system.
7. Start the system. For instructions, see "Starting the 8335-GTB system" on page 199.
8. Replace the front cover. For instructions, see "Installing the front cover on an 8335-GTB system" on
page 204.
9. If applicable, close the rack front door.
10. Verify the installed part. See Verifying a repair (www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/
