e. A second person is needed to raise the manifold assembly above the hose and the bucket so that
the water can drain from the manifold and the hose into the bucket.
f. Repeat step 7 on page 182 for the remaining water hose.

Replacing the water manifold in the 8335-GTB

Learn how to replace the water manifold for the IBM Power System S822LC (8335-GTB) system.
Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is
connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
2. If the original manifold FRU had the facility supply and return water hoses exiting the top of the
rack, complete this step to reconfigure the replacement manifold FRU. Otherwise, skip this step.
a. Unscrew and remove the four nuts of each manifold z bracket by using a 7 mm nut driver.
Remove the three manifold z brackets and separate the manifold halves.

b. Flip the manifold halves so that the hoses are at the top of the manifold. Ensure that the following
criteria are met:
v The supply manifold half is toward the inside of the rack.
v The return manifold half is toward the outside of the rack.
v Align the manifold halves such that the supply manifold half is lower than the return manifold
half.
Align the z brackets to the manifold. Use the labels on the bracket and the manifold to properly
align the brackets. Then, by using a 7 mm nut driver, reattach the manifold z brackets by installing
and tightening the four nuts of each bracket.
Note: The z brackets are installed on different studs when the manifold is configured with the
water hoses exiting the top of the rack than when the manifold is configured with the water hoses
