  • Page 67 Attention: v Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap to an unpainted metal surface of your hardware to prevent the electrostatic discharge from damaging your hardware. v When using an ESD wrist strap, follow all electrical safety procedures. An ESD wrist strap is used for static control.

    Following a system backplane replacement, you must set the system serial number on the system backplane. There is a tool to set the system serial number, go to Fix Central (www.ibm.com/support/ fixcentral/) to download the tool and follow the instructions for setting the serial number.
