Possible cause:
The anti-theft alarm system bat-
tery is completely discharged.
Operation of the anti-theft alarm
system is no longer ensured
when the motorcycle's battery
is disconnected.
Contact an authorized service
facility, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
Electronic oil-level check
The electronic oil-level
check evaluates the oil level
in the engine with OK or Low!
The following conditions must
be satisfied in order to use the
electronic oil-level check:
Engine at operating tempera-
ture.
Engine idling for at least ten
seconds.
Side stand retracted.
No brake applied.
Motorcycle standing vertically
on a level surface.
If these conditions have not been
satisfied, it will not be possible
to measure the oil level. Dashes
will be displayed instead of the
information.
Low engine oil level
Oil level too low!
Check oil level.
Possible cause:
The electronic oil level sensor
has detected that the engine's oil
level is too low. At next refueling
stop:
Checking the engine oil level
(
164).
If oil level is too low:
Topping up the engine oil
(
165).
If the oil level is correct:
Contact an authorized work-
shop, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
Coolant temperature too
high
General warning light shows
red.
Coolant temperature
too high! Check
coolant level. Carry on at
moderate pace to cool.
ATTENTION
Riding with overheated en-
gine
Engine damage
Be sure to observe the mea-
sures listed below.
Possible cause:
Coolant level is too low.
Checking coolant level

If coolant level is too low:
Have the coolant refilled and
the cooling system checked
at a specialist service work-
