Safety instructions for Power Modules

Danger to life if the fundamental safety instructions and residual risks are not observed
Not observing fundamental safety instructions and residual risks stated in Chapter 1 can
result in accidents with severe injuries or death.
• Observe the fundamental safety instructions.
• Consider the residual risks for the risk evaluation.
Danger to life due to electric shock caused by residual charge of the DC-link capacitors
Due to the DC link capacitors, a hazardous voltage is present in the DC link for up to 5
minutes after the power supply has been switched off.
Touching live components results in death or severe injury.
• Only carry out work on these components after this time has elapsed.
• Measure the voltage before starting work on the DCP and DCN DC-link terminals.
Danger to life through a hazardous voltage when connecting an unsuitable power supply
Death or serious injury can result when live parts are touched in the event of a fault.
• Only use the intended supply voltage to operate the Power Modules.
Danger to life caused by high leakage currents when the protective conductor in the line
feeder cable is interrupted
Drive components conduct high discharge currents via the protective conductor. When the
protective conductor is interrupted, touching live components can result in electric shock,
which can lead to death or serious injuries.
• Carefully comply with the applicable regulations when dimensioning the protective
