NO.6 BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON 4 S OR MORE WHEN IGNITION
SWITCH TURNED TO ON POSITION
BRAKE system warning light stays on 4 s or more when the ignition switch is turned to the ON

position. (Parking brake is released.)
[TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS]
Malfunction of instrument cluster or ABS HU/CM
Short to ground in circuit in parking brake switch and/or brake fluid level sensor
Diagnostic procedure
STEP INSPECTION
INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

Is brake fluid level normal?
INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN ABS
HU/CM AND DLC-2 FOR CONTINUITY AND
SHORTS
Inspect the following items using the WDS or
equivalent datalogger function.

BRAKE_LMP (BRAKE system
warning light)
Is error message displayed regarding
communication between ABS HU/CM and
WDS or equivalent?
INSPECT FOR DTCs IN ABS HU/CM

Have DTCs been stored in memory?
INSPECT PID/DATA IN ABS HU/CM
Inspect (BRAKE system warning light) using

the WDS or equivalent datalogger function.
Is BRAKE_LMP on 4 s or more after the
ignition switch is turned to the ON position?
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN

PARKING BRAKE SWITCH OR BRAKE FLUID
LEVEL SENSOR, OR IN SOME OTHER PART
ACTION
Yes Go to the next step.
No Add brake fluid.
If a communication error message is
displayed even after inspecting according
to procedures displayed on WDS or
Yes
equivalent.
Go to next Step 6.
No Go to the next step.
Yes Perform the applicable DTC inspection.
No Go to the next step.
Yes Replace the ABS HU/CM.
No Go to the next step.
Replace the parking brake switch and/or
Yes
brake fluid level sensor (Short with some
internal part).
