1 Introduction
1.1

Overall Operation

The digital Multi-Function Protection SIPROTEC
formance microprocessor. All tasks such as the acquisition of the measured values
and issuing of commands to circuit breakers and other switching equipment, are pro-
cessed digitally. Figure 1-1 shows the basic structure of the device.
Analog Inputs
The measuring inputs (MI) are galvanically isolated, transform the currents and volt-
ages from the primary transformers and adapt them to the internal processing level of
the device. The device has 4 current and 4 voltage inputs. Three inputs are used on
each side of the protected object for measuring of the phase currents.
