Troubleshooting - Yamaha RS90GTZ Service Manual

TROUBLESHOOTING

Check the main fuse and ignition fuse.
Refer to "FUSE INSPECTION" in CHAPTER 2.
OK FAULTY
Check the battery.
Refer to "BATTERY INSPECTION" in CHAPTER 2.
OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Check the spark plug gap.
Refer to "SPARK PLUGS" in CHAPTER 2.
OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Check the ignition spark gap.
OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Check the ignition coil resistance.
OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Check the crankshaft position sensor.
OK OUT OF SPECIFICATION
Check the engine stop switch, throttle switch and
main switch.
OK FAULTY
Check the throttle position sensor.
Refer to "THROTTLE BODY" in CHAPTER 7.
OK FAULTY
Check the ignition system wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM".
OK FAULTY
Correct the connection and/or replace the ECU.
IGNITION SYSTEM
NO SPARK OR WEAK SPARK.
Replace the main fuse and/or ignition fuse.
Replace or charge the battery.
Refer to "BATTERY INSPECTION" in CHAP-
TER 2.
Repair or replace the spark plug(s).
Refer to "SPARK PLUGS" in CHAPTER 2.
Replace the ignition coil(s).
Replace the ignition coil(s).
Replace the crankshaft position sensor.
Replace the right handlebar switch and/or
main switch.
Replace the throttle position sensor.
Refer to "THROTTLE BODY" in CHAPTER 7.
Properly connect or repair the ignition sys-
tem wiring.
