Final drive gear case filling bolt

4.Install:
• Dial indicator
(on the ring gear through the filling hole)

5.Measure:
• Backlash
TIP
Install the dial indicator onto the tip of the ring
gear
engagement to engagement to read the
backlash.
6.Remove:
• Dial indicator
7.Rotate:
• Ring gear

(120˚ in direction
8.Re-install:
• Dial indicator
9.Measure:
• Backlash
TIP
Repeat this procedure three times. Average the
three measurements. Replace the shims using
the table given on page 7-10.
