11.1 Setting Up a Network

To set up a wireless network using a router and internal wireless bridge (optional), there
are several steps which must be done using a PC. Refer to Networking manual for
additional information. The following are the instructions for setting up the scale
At the CAL menu, press
the 5 key for Network Options
and the following screen appears.
Network is Used? (Y/N): This will determine
whether the unit is being used as a stand-
alone unit or in a network.
PC Master is Used? (Y/N): used in a network,
the PC is counted as the Master Scale (scale #1)
Clerk Mode (0-2): Determines whether or not the scale is assigned to certain clerks
This Scale is Number: The scales can be numbered from 1-99. However, when used with a PC Master in
a network, the PC is considered scale number 1 and the scales can be assigned any number from 2-99.
The second page is where you set up the addresses for the scale and the PC
Scale IP Address: The first three numbers in this address much match the first three numbers on the
network. The last number can be anything from 1-999, but is usually the same as the scale number.
Sub Net Mask: Sets number of available devices in a network. For our purposes, it is always set at
255.255.255.0
Gateway: This is used for access from a PC outside the network. Since we strongly recommend that
these scales always be on a dedicated network this number is not needed.
