Chapter 5: Error Messages and Troubleshooting
Description
The CPU microcode update did not
occur or, in a multiprocessor system,
the microcode updates in the CPUs
do not match; that is, they have
different revisions.
The CPU's measured clock speed
does not match the expected value
for the appliance model. This
indicates problems with system
clocks and/or busses.
The front panel Reset button is
stuck.
The system LCD device is not
operating correctly. All subsequent
POST messages are displayed on the
console—C2100 only.
The system is clearly running but no
information about the power supply
is being reported. Something is
wrong with the power supply or the
status reporting circuitry.
The lithium battery on the
motherboard is low.
The appliance SIO or ISA bridge
chip failed its timer interrupt test.
The system cannot operate properly
without this function.
The appliance watchdog reset
hardware, used to reset the appliance
from a system hang condition, is not
functioning properly.
Corrective action
Update the firmware to a version
that contains an updated microcode
database.
Replace the motherboard.
Free the Reset button.
Replace the LED/LCD
subassembly.
Replace the motherboard.
Replace the motherboard or replace
the chassis.
Replace the power supply or the
motherboard.
Replace the lithium battery on the
motherboard.
