Using AppleTalk with Windows NT
4.0
Windows NT 4.0 servers can also use AppleTalk for printing to the DocuColor
4 LP/CP.
When creating a printer that you are sharing with AppleTalk users, do not
"capture" the printer. Capturing the printer forces all users to print to the
server rather than directly to the printer. If you capture the printer, DocuColor
4 LP/CP queues will not appear in the Mac OS Chooser.
Loading the AppleTalk protocol on a Windows NT 4.0 server is different
from installing TCP/IP. You must install Services for Macintosh, and install
Windows NT Service Pack 3 or higher. For more information, see your Win-
dows NT 4.0 documentation.
If your network uses AppleTalk only, you do not need to install the TCP/IP.
This protocol is not required to print documents over an AppleTalk network.
Mac OS users can print directly to the DocuColor 4 LP/CP and should install
the AdobePS printer driver and the DocuColor 4 LP/CP PPD. These installa-
tions are described in the User Guide.
For the Windows NT 4.0 server and Windows NT 4.0 clients, install the Win-
dows NT PostScript Printer driver and the DocuColor 4 LP/CP PPD. Win-
dows 95/98 clients should use the Adobe PostScript Printer driver supplied
with the DocuColor 4 LP/CP user software.
