VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT
S Locate the rounded-off value and the mea-
sured valve clearance in the chart "PAD
SELECTION TABLE". The field where these
two coordinates intersect shows the new pad
number to use.
NOTE:
Use the new pad number only as a guide when
verifying the valve clearance adjustment.
S Install the new pads 1 and the valve lifters 2 .
NOTE:
S Lubricate the valve lifters and pads with molyb-
denum disulfide oil.
S Valve lifter must turn smoothly when rotated with
a finger.
S Be careful to reinstall valve lifters and pads in
their original place.
S Install the new pads so that the side with the pad
number faces up (toward the valve lifter).
S Install the camshafts (exhaust and intake), the
timing chain and the camshaft caps.
10 Nm (1.0 mSkg)
NOTE:
S Lubricate the cylinder head mating surfaces cam
lobes and camshaft journals.
S Install the exhaust camshaft first.
S Align the matching marks.
S Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise several
turns so that the installed parts settle into the
right position.
Refer to "CAMSHAFT" in CHAPTER 4.
