Domain Filtering
NOTE: Domain filtering is only available after the server is joined to an Active Directory domain,
After you join an Active Directory domain, you can enable domain filtering by clicking the
Domain Filtering button that is now displayed on the Network > Windows/SMB page.
Domain filtering allows you to limit the number of domain users and groups that can be
imported from the domain to the SnapServer. This is sometimes necessary in large domains
to limit the system resources used to manage the user/group lists and reduce server

Description
Enabled by default. Opportunistic locking can help performance if
the current user has exclusive access to a file. Clear the checkbox
to disable opportunistic locking.
Enabled by default. The SnapServer can maintain the master list
of all computers belonging to a specific workgroup. (At least one
Master Browser must be active per workgroup.) Check the
checkbox if you plan to install this server in a Windows
environment and you want this server to be able to serve as the
Master Browser for a workgroup. Clear the checkbox to disable
this feature.
Check the
login on the selected server.
NOTE:
Some administrators may wish to disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
Select the checkbox to disable NetBIOS; clear the checkbox to
leave NetBIOS enabled.
NOTE:
SnapServers recognize trust relationships established between
the domain to which the SnapServer is joined and other domains
in a Windows environment by default. Select the checkbox to
toggle this feature.
NOTE:
and domain filtering cannot be used when Enable Trusted Domains is checked.

Allow Root Authentication checkbox to allow a root
The root password is synchronized with the admin
password.
If you disable NetBIOS and you are joining a domain, you
must enter the domain name as a fully qualified domain
name (for example,
actdirdomname.companyname.com). A short form such
as ActDirDomName will not work.
SnapServers remember trusted domains. That is, if this
feature is disabled and then activated at a later time, the
previously downloaded user and group lists, as well as
any security permissions assigned to them, will be
retained.
