SECTION 9
TELEPRINTERS
This section describes the functions, character
istics, operating procedures, programming con
siderations, and normal operator maintenance of
the TTU9l0l (ASR-33) and TTU9l02 (KSR-33)
teleprinters. Both teleprinters are available for
Level 6 system console and input/output use (see
Figure 9-1).
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Similar in operation and specification, both
teleprinters interface with the processor by means
of a single board Multiple Device Controller
(MDC91Ol), a Console Device-Pac, and a 25 foot
cable. Up to four teleprinters can be connected to
a single MOe.
Both teleprinter consoles print data from or
transmit data to the central processor at the rate
of ten characters per second. The TTU9l 01 can
also read and punch paper tape at the same rate.
The TTU9l02 does not read or punch paper tape.
All functions of the teleprinters are initiated
by the receipt of certain codes. Some of these,
such as carriage return and line feed, have their
own keys. Other codes may be generated by
simultaneously pressing the CTRL (control) key
and one of the alphabetic keys.
Horizontal spacing.is 10 characters per inch.
Vertical spacing is six lines per inch with single
spacing, and the line length is up to 72 characters.
A local carriage return (generating no code)
occurs after all 72 characters in the line have been
printed and an attempt is made to print another
character.
POWER ON/OFF
Prior to the application of power to the
teleprinter, the user should ensure that the proper
electrical connections are made.
Control Switch
The control switch, located on the right side
of the front panel, is the main power switch.
o In the OFF position, the device is disabled.
