There are several mechanical controls and
adjustments which are located in the printer
mechanism for the control of printing and paper
feeding as shown in Figures 7-7 and 7-8. These
controls and adjustments are accessible to the
operator provided that the hood on the printer is
opened.

A fault indicator, when illuminated,
may indicate:
1. A ribbon snag has occurred, or
2. ribbon has failed to reverse its
direction at one end of the spool,
or
3. one of the ribbon motors is not
operating properly.
The occurrence of a ribbon fault
condition will cause the printer to
enter the offline mode (with the
ON/OFF LINE indicator not lit)
The
RIBBON
FAULT
indicator
lights
in
conjunction
with
the
ALARM indicator.
Lights to indicate that the drum gate
is unlatched.
When lit indicates that the printer
has run out of paper forms, or that
the forms are torn. The occurrence
of a paper fault condition will cause
the printer to enter the offline mode
(with the ON/OFF LINE indicator
not lit).
The PAPER fault indicator is ex­
tinguished when the condition is
corrected.
The TAPE fault indicator is present
only on those printers having VFU
option (PRF91 01) installed.
The TAPE indicator lights to indi­
cate a fault in the VFU option. Such
a failure condition may be caused by
a failure in the VFU circuitry, by an
