You can adjust the LCD display contrast if necessary (see page 6-2).

Problems Dialling Out

Problem with phone line connected to DM50 Series
Make sure you've connected your DM50 Series to a working
analogue phone line (the same type you connect your fax to). Also
make sure the phone line connectors are firmly seated.
Incorrect DM50 Series settings
One or more of the DM50 Series settings may be set up wrong. Go
to Section 6 - Machine Settings and check the following:
Does your phone system require you to dial a prefix number to
get an outside phone line? Make sure to include this in the setup
if needed.
Is the dial method correct? You have to tell the DM50 Series
if your phone uses a pulse or tone for dialling. (Almost all
telephone systems now use tone dialling).
Problem with PC Meter Connect™
Make sure that the USB cable is connected between the DM50 and
your PC. Also check that your PC is able to connect to the internet.

Accidentally Printing the Wrong Postage

Once you have printed a meter stamp, the postage funds have been
"used up" by the DM50 Series, even if the printing is illegible. That's
why it is so important to make sure the correct value is shown on the
machine before inserting the envelope or tape sheet, and that you do
not let the ink level get too low. We recommend you always keep a
spare ink cartridge on hand just for this reason.
To help prevent you from accidentally printing a postage value that's
more than you need, you can have the DM50 Series warn you when
you manually key in a postage value that is higher than a maximum
amount that you specify. This setting is known as the high value
warning (see Section 6 - Machine Settings to set this option).
NOTE: This warning does not function if the internal rating
feature is being used to calculate postage.
