1. Install the muffler and attaching hardware to
the muffler bracket. Torque screws to 9.9 N·m
(88 in. lb.).
2. Install the M8 hex flange nuts or 5/16-18 hex head
capscrews (based on head design), to secure the
muffler. Torque the hex flange nuts to 24.4 N·m
(216 in. lb.), or the capscrews to 16.9 N·m (150 in.
lb.).
1. Install the oil drain plug. See Figure 10-85. Torque
the plug to 13.6 N·m (120 in. lb.).
NOTE: Make sure that the oil drain plug is
installed and torqued to the above
specification to prevent oil leakage.
2. Prefill a new oil filter following the instructions in
Section 6, Lubrication System.
3. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the rubber gasket
on the oil filter and thread it onto the adapter
nipple. See Figure 10-86.
4. Install the new oil filter to the filter adapter or oil
cooler. Refer to instructions on the oil filter for
proper installation.
