Release the lower crankcase bolts in the sequence
shown in the diagram below.

Separate the lower and upper crankcases ensuring
that the 3 locating dowels remain in the upper
crankcase.

CAUTION: Do not use levers to separate
~
the upper and lower sections of the
crankcase or damage to the crankcases could
result.
NOTE:
At
this
point
the
transmission
shafts,
crankshaft bearings etc. can be removed.
CRANKSHAFT/RODS/PISTONS 6
Assembly
1.
Apply Loctite 648 to the outer races of the gearbox
bearings.
Fit the gearbox shafts (if removed),
ensuring the locating ring on the input shaft is in
position in the circllp groove on the crankcase.
Engage the clutch primary gear with crankshaft
gear.
2.
Ensure that the transmission is in neutral.
3.
Ensure that the 3 locating dowels are in position in
the upper crankcase.

4.
Use high flash-point solvent to clean the crankcase
mating faces. Wipe the surfaces clean with a
lint-free cloth.
5.
Apply a thin bead of silicone sealant to the lower
crankcase mating faces as shown in the diagram
below. (At the factory, Three-bond 12078 is used).
