8K Series ProPalette Repair Manual

Starting and Using Flash Manager

1 Disable the watchdog timer (page 54) and activate monitor mode (page 51.).
Note: If you use the front panel buttons to activate monitor mode,
you do not need to disable the watchdog timer. (Using the
front panel button method to enter monitor mode
automatically disables the timer.)
2 Connect the ProPalette to the host computer via the serial port.
3 Turn the ProPalette power switch to on.
4 Start the terminal emulation program (ProComm Plus or equivalent) and
confirm communication between the host computer and ProPalette.
5 Upload FLASHMAN.HEX to ProPalette. (See page 89.)
6 Start the flash manager with the command g 0
The virtual flash 0 screen (Figure 6-1 on page 154) appears.
7 Perform any of the following operations, described in the following sections:
• Reload firmware
• Switch between virtual flash devices
• Erase the entire virtual flash
• Erase a single code block
8 When the necessary operations have been completed, exit from the terminal
emulator program.
9 Turn the ProPalette power switch to off.

Enable the watchdog timer (page 54) if necessary.

Disable Monitor mode (page 51).

Turn the ProPalette power switch to on and verify that it operates normally.

Reloading Firmware

1 Follow steps 1-7 in "Starting and Using Flash Manager" (previous section).
2 Confirm that you are viewing virtual flash 0 (Figure 6-1 on page 154).
