The lithium-ion battery pack that is used in this device may present a
fire or chemical burn hazard if it is mistreated. Do not disassemble it,
heat it above 100ºC (212ºF) or incinerate it.
The main power source for the 243X is a lithium-ion battery pack (P/N
073152). When you change the battery pack, a backup power source
maintains the terminal status, memory, and real-time clock for at least 15
minutes.
If you use the terminal in a very hot or very cold environment, battery
life will be reduced. Battery life depends on temperature, battery model,
input device, age of the battery pack, your usage, and duty cycle factors.
If you use the terminal for extended periods of time in sub-freezing
environments, you may need to change the main battery pack more often.
Note: Do not press f or ' when there is no battery pack installed in
the terminal.
Follow these tips to get the best battery performance and life possible:
• Keep a spare, fully charged battery pack on hand.
• Keep a charged battery pack installed in the terminal to maximize the
backup power source's life and so you can continue to operate the
terminal without interruption.
• If the terminal turns off due to a low battery, do not turn the terminal
back on. Replace or charge the battery pack before you continue using
the terminal.
• Do not store the terminal in a cold temperature environment. When
you are not using the terminal, keep it in a warm area to make sure the
battery charger will continue operating.
• Store the battery chargers and spare batteries in a warm (office)
environment to ensure the most efficient operation.
• Charge the main battery pack in an area or room where the temperature
is above freezing.
• If you have been using the terminal in a cold temperature environment
and need to replace or charge the battery, let the battery warm up for a
half-hour before you charge it.
