TROUBLESHOOTING DETAILS (EPS SYSTEM)

NOTE:
The malfunction history is stored even if the main switch is turned to "OFF", therefore, be sure to
erase the history (present and past malfunction signaling modes) after repairing the cause of the
EPS system malfunction. The malfunction history must be erased in the diagnostic mode. Refer to
"DIAGNOSTIC MODE" and "Deleting fault codes".

• EPS torque sensor coupler

Defective EPS torque sensor.

Open or short circuit in EPS torque
sensor lead.
Symptom EPS torque sensor: open or short circuit detected.
Check or maintenance job
• Check the coupler for any pins
that may have pulled out.
• Check the locking condition of
the coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, repair it
and connect the coupler
securely.
• Replace if defective.
Refer to "CHECKING THE EPS
TORQUE SENSOR".
• Repair or replace if there is an
open or short circuit.
• Between EPS torque sensor
coupler and EPS control unit
coupler.
