A laser used to indicate the scanning position and LED used to scan the code illuminate when

scanning. The intensity of the laser light and illumination LED will vary depending on the scanning
conditions and variation of its elements.
By using the "KbifCE" utility software, codes read by the BHT can be converted into keypad data
to be transmitted to an application program. The utility software can be downloaded from the
DENSO WAVE Web site (http://www.denso-wave.com/). For further details, refer to the "2D Code
Scanner/Barcode Scanner Keyboard Interface with BHT-CE kbifCE User's Guide" provided with
the software.
When unable to successfully read codes...
When the illumination LED is focused on
the printed surface of the code from
Specular
directly above, there are times when
reflection
scanning is unsuccessful due to specular
reflection.
Scanning may be unsuccessful if the BHT
Distance from reading window is too close to or too far
code from the code, even when the code is
within the marker beam range.
Code surface Scanning may be unsuccessful if the code
curvature surface is curved.
Code surface Scanning may be unsuccessful if the code
dirt surface is dirty.
Code reading Scanning may be unsuccessful if the code
window dirt reading window is dirty.
Code scanning may be adversely affected
Direct sunlight,
by direct sunlight or the brightness of the
ambient light
surrounding light.

Countermeasure
Change the BHT scanning angle and try again.
Move the BHT slowly toward or away from the code and
try again.
The marker beam range is only a guideline.
The actual scanning range is narrower than the marker
beam range. The scanning range is 2.4" (6 cm) wide by
1.6" (4 cm) high when the scanning distance is approx.
4.3" (11 cm).
Scan the code at the center of the code reading window.
Wipe the dirt from the code and try again.
Blow any dust away with an airbrush, and then gently
wipe the reading window with a cotton swab or similar soft
object.
Perform code scanning away from direct sunlight. Try
adjusting the brightness of the surrounding light when
scanning indoors.
