4.12.3 GSM/EDGE Internal Cellular Modem Card
The GSM/EDGE internal cellular modem card option is available for use on various
GSM based networks. It is available in Slot 1 of the RuggedRouter. This option
supports GSM and EDGE. The single antenna connection is made to the 50 Ω SMA
connector located on Slot 1 faceplate. Supported frequency bands are shown in
Table 19. Ensure that the maximum antenna gain is not exceeded for safe operation
of the device.
SIM card access is made through the access panel on the top of the RuggedRouter
(see Figure 38). Instructions for installing the SIM are as follows:
Remove power from the unit.
On the top of the RuggedRouter, remove the SIM access panel as shown in
Figure 38. Remove the three screws with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
Insert the SIM card with the angled side first. An audible click will indicate
that the SIM is in position.
Reattach the SIM access panel.
