Configuration

This section shows you how to save and restore the system configuration, as well as
load the configuration XML files. This will generate a complete backup of your system,
including all temporary files, recordings, TFTP server files, etc. You can even schedule
this task nightly so that you automatically have a fresh backup for disaster recovery.
Important: The backup from the web interface is designed for smaller systems. If the
working directory of the system is larger than 5 MB, it is best to use TAR or ZIP and
move the backup to another storage place.

Save/Restore a Backup

This backup will make a TAR backup of the whole configuration, including audio
recordings. Because the file might get potentially large, you should perform this ac-
tion in times when there is not too much going on in the system. This will prevent you
from interfering with the service and will ensure that you get an integer snapshot of the
system state.
1.
Use the "click here" link, as shown in the following image.
2. When prompted, save the file on the local computer.
Important: The size of the file is limited by the Max. size of a configuration backup
file setting (see page 49). If the TAR file exceeds the configured size, the backup will
fail and an empty file will be returned. Therefore, be sure to check whether the file size
is okay after storing the backup. If there is a problem, consider making the file system
backup manually.
