35. Send call to extension: This setting is discussed in "Inbound Calls" on
page 117.
36. Assume that call comes from user: This setting is used for trunks that accept
redirects. The settings must be an extension in the domain of the trunk. This
setting is necessary in order to determine what dial plan to use, and it is also
necessary to charge a user on the system for the call. For regular trunks, you
should leave this field empty.
37. Ringback: This feature was introduced to deal with network operators who
were unable to deal with early media. Although using the 180 Message simpli-
fies the signaling in forking calls scenarios, it creates additional delay when
the called party picks the handset up and the first samples on the conversion
may not be transported. We strongly recommend leaving the flag set to Media
(which is default) and asking the operator to fix the problems with early media.
Connecting Branch Offices Together
This section describes how to connect two snom ONE systems together so that calls
between the two locations will be routed through VoIP rather than through the local
PSTN. Two different scenarios are presented:
•
Two snom ONE telephone systems with public routable IP addresses (this
model is also suitable for two systems on a private network with no NAT is-
sues)
•
Two snom ONE telephone systems: A head office site and a remote site
Using a Gateway Trunk
SIP gateway trunks are the best method for connecting two snom ONE telephone
systems, as long as both systems either have public routable IP addresses or are on a pri-
vate network with no issues with NAT. Likely candidates for this configuration are the
classroom environment and organizations with a large private network (as long as the
system has an interface directly on a public IP address). Figure 4-17 shows two remote
sites connected by two gateways. Callers from either system can dial the other system
using four-digit dialing.
