The replacement disc drive comes with a bezel mounted on it. Remove this bezel before installing the
new drive. To ·do this loosen the two screws shown in figure 6-23c and slide the bezel off .

Remove the bezel-mounting screws and retainer nuts from the new drive and transfer them to the old
drive. Mount the bezel on the old drive before returning it.
Make sure that the switch on the back of the new drive is
in
the -down' position (see figure 6-23b).

Removing the Display Assembly
Note. There are two versions of the display assembly. (Both are functionally equivalent.) The
original assembly had a small
peA
mounted on the back frame of the assembly. The later
version does not have this
peA
because the
circuitry
has been added to the main display
assembly peA Do not remove this
peA
from a display assembly that has it, nor transfer the
PCA to a replacement display assembly that does not have it. Replace the entire display as-
sembly with an exchange assembly. The display assembly is a tuned assembly.
It
cannot be
serviced to the component level in the field.
You don't need to open the back of the computer. Just open the lid and remove the keyboard to get
access to the front of the computer. Follow these steps:

Make sure the display assembly
is in
the closed position. (The edge of the display panel
is
flush
with the edge of the disc-drive bezel.)

Remove the printer cover as shown in
figure
6-9.
