preload, in other words), use
the tool from the on-board
toolkit to turn adjusting ring 2
in direction a.
Tighten screw 1 to the spe-
cified tightening torque.

Damping

Setting
Damping must be adapted to suit
the surface on which the motor-
cycle is ridden and to suit spring
preload.
An uneven surface requires
softer damping than a smooth
surface.
An increase in spring preload
requires firmer damping, a re-
duction in spring preload re-
quires softer damping.
Adjusting compression-
stage damping for front
wheel
Use adjusting screws 1 on
left and right to adjust the
compression-stage damping.
To increase damping: Use the
tool from the on-board kit to
turn the adjusting screw in the
appropriate direction so that
mark 2 points to a higher read-
ing on the scale.
To reduce damping: Use the
tool from the on-board kit to
turn the adjusting screw in the
appropriate direction so that
mark 2 points to a lower read-
ing on the scale.
