9-22 Upgrading Your Server

Replacing a Failed Power Supply Unit

Replace only a failed power supply unit.
IMPORTANT:
normally.
NOTE:
power supply units in a redundant configuration, the failed power
supply unit can be replaced with the system operating (power-on state).
(Skip step 1.)
1.
Locate the failed power supply unit by the AC POWER LED on the rear of each power
supply unit. (The LED of the failed power supply unit is lit amber or flashing amber.)
2.
Shutdown the system, and press the POWER switch to turn off the power.
3.
Disconnect the power cord from the failed power supply.
4.
Hold the handle of the failed power supply.
5.
While pressing the lever, pull the power supply to remove it from the chassis.
6.
If operating the server with a single power supply unit without installing a new one, install
the cover you removed in step 2 of installation procedure.
IMPORTANT:
blank cover in the vacant slot.
7.
Install the new power supply unit taking steps 3 to 7 of "Installation", and confirm that the
power supply unit is installed normally.
Observe the following instructions to use the server safely. Failure to follow
these instructions may cause a fire, personal injury, or property damage.
